With the current version, any character in the contact list except a-z, A-Z and 0-9 can cause the system to crash. The only work-around to date has been to remove these characters. In the next update (which has been released to Apple), this issue is handled by the software. While you may still want to remove the characters, since they can affect recognition (how to you say "???"), the system will be stable.

With the free update version 1.1, VoiceThis fully supports any special characters or non-English characters in your address book, it will no longer cause a crash or prevent the app from loading. If you would like to recognize a contact with symbols, we now support hyphens (dashes) and underscores. For example "John_Doe" and "John-Doe" would both be recognized as "John Doe" without needing to remove characters. Alternatively, you can always create a phonetic entry to recognize a contact with symbols such as for first name contact "John 2" just create a phonetic first name entry "John two" and then it can be recognized.
